...is that I feel more comfortable in my body while doing yoga than I do in general. I think this may also be true of exercising on the elliptical machine, and sort of true of exercise in general.

We started taking a yoga class this evening, the whole family together. It was a good first class -- I think I like this teacher better than any yoga teacher I have previously met with; everything she said to the class seemed to be pretty well in tune with whatever I was experiencing at the moment. Class meets every Tuesday for the next couple of months.

For the past year I have been, generally, driving from my workplace to a store or restaurant to get lunch and back again. Most days. I've been feeling kind of bad about this, and as I've said before, feeling sluggish and in need of exercise. Well the new regime, started this week, is to walk into town and back every other day -- the town deli sells sandwiches which are good for two lunches -- and to take a shorter walk on the off days. It's about a mile in to town or a little less, so this is not by any means infeasible. I'm a little sorry about "town" not being "route 10", which is about twice as far away and has my favorite lunch spots; but the deli in town is just fine. Also, meeting Ellen at the JCC after work today for exercise.

So I have a week off coming up! Fun. My hope is that I won't let the time hang heavy on my hands, that I will do stuff and be engaged. Towards that end here is a list of some of the things I want to do with my free time:
- Exercise! A perennial New Year's resolution is to be more physically active; this year it's pretty urgent that I devote some attention to that. I've been feeling more and more like a slug over the past couple of months. So: go to the gym daily, ride my bike if it is not too cold. Get Ellen to come along with me.
- Practice my violin. Goes without saying, but regardless, I want to spend some serious time on that. Maybe do some recording with my great new software. (I've come up with a fiddle arrangement of "Keep Your Lamps Trimmed and Burning" that I think sounds really nice.) I should call Jerry (and Neal) and see if they have any free time next week.
- Walks with Ellen and Sylvia. There should be some nice weather (I hope!) and it's pleasant just walking around.
- Reading and blogging, of course.
